Rustic Wood Shelves

In this category, the Shenandoah from Pearl Mantels is a manufactured rustic fireplace mantel shelf meaning it is manufactured from multiple pieces of wood to give the appearance of a solid log mantel shelf. Most of the rest of our rustic mantel shelves are actually solid pieces of hardwood sawn from logs, kiln dried and planed to produce rustic log style fireplace mantel shelves.

There are benefits of both styles. The Shenandoah is lightweight, thicker than an actual log style shelf and easier to mount on existing surfaces. The remainder of our log style mantel shelves are excellent for producing a true rustic look. The front edge of the log style mantel shelves is usually left in its natural state showing the actual splits, knots, cracks and texture of the original log and the width of the mantel shelf will vary over the length of the shelf. Therefore, every log style mantel shelf is unique.  No two are exactly the same. The log style mantels are easy to install over exposed wall studs but a little trickier if you are installing over existing brick or other wall surfaces.

Log style mantels are great for cabins, ski retreats and any other room where a rustic look is desired. However, rustic mantel shelves are not for everyone.
